The phone memory is the most irritating part of many Nokia phones. Nokia S60 phones use the phone memory or the flash memory as the RAM, so they are very important. More the memory left, faster is the device. In Nokia S60 phones, the phone memory is very less, it's about 88 MB. Almost half the space will be occupied by a third party and Nokia apps. So it is very important that we regularly keep clearing out unwanted stuff to make some space for the things that matter. This space can be easily cleared.
One method is by clearing the cookies and other private data from your web browser. Sometimes we don't notice that a lot of space is occupied by the cookies and temp files in of the browser. Clearing it will make a lot of space. But sometimes that's not enough to make a difference. So we have to use another technique to free more space. Sometimes restarting the phone will also free some space.
The other method is by hard resetting the phone. This will just delete every bloody file in the flash memory except the OS related files. But, however, we can take a backup of the files that we need before hard resetting the phone. This method will give you the best result of all other methods possible.

The steps for hard resetting:
- Go to the file manager
- double tap 'Backup'
- Go to options, make sure that 'Backup contents' is set to 'all'
- Then go to options and then click on 'backup now'.
- Then it will prompt a message, press yes.
- Then wait for it to backup all the files on your memory card.
Once that is done, go to the dialing pad in the home screen and dial *#7370# which is the 'hard reset' code for all Nokia S60 phones. When you dial that, it will ask you for a code. The default code for all Nokia S60 phones is 12345 unless you have changed it. Now your phone will restart.
After it has restarted:
- go to file manager > backup > options > restore.
- Then check all the contents you want to restore to your phone memory and press ok.
- Restart the phone.
- Go back to file manager and check the space on your phone memory.
And lastly you might want to re-pair all the Bluetooth devices, reinstall all the apps that were on c: phone memory and reconfigure the WiFi settings.
This would have completely freed a lot of phone memory. This will make the device faster and non-pissing off. Make sure you follow the steps properly or you might end up losing some important data.
This is the only problem with Nokia S60 phones. Everything else is perfect. The built quality is strong, the firmware is better than the others, the camera is good, they are one of the best phones Nokia has ever made.
